Color Club You're So Vain and Obsessed swatches!

Image
Hey guys! I have a few more swatches for you today. I received these for Christmas from my friend Marcella of @lovepurplepolish  (they were on my wish list) And I just love them! They are textured polishes from Color Club, a brand I don't have a lot of! This is You're So Vain, a purple texture with firey gold shimmer. These aren't quite as textured as some of my liquid sands or pixie dusts, nor as sparkly, and I still love them! When I put this on a thought jumped in my head--this looks exactly like OPI Alcatraz Rocks! (my all time favorite polish) No wonder I was drawn to it! So I grabbed it and did a quick comparison. Can you tell which is which? On my index and ring finger is the CC and middle finger and pinky is OPI. Super similar, yes?? You're so Vain is so purple it makes Alcatraz Rocks look blue! I increased the exposure on this pic so you can maybe tell a little more. This is Obsessed, a darker green texture with teal shimmer through o...

Picture Polish Ocean

Image
Hey guys! I don't have too much to say about this but.....PERFECTION. This is 2 coats. Ocean was number one on my Picture Polish wish list and it does not disappoint! It wasn't so much sunny this day so it does look a little darker than it is. But still. BE STILL MY TURQUOISE LOVING HEART. natural light The 2nd day I wore this I knew I wanted to add a gold accent but couldn't quite make a decision. So this is what I came up with . The gold is OPI Honey Rider (liquid sand) done with striping tape.    natural light The sun peeked out for a minute so I thought I'd try a pose with out the bottle. Look! the outside of my house! direct sun!

March Madness textured basketball nails!

Image
Hey guys! Thanks for sticking with me through all the green! I promise I'll take a break from them for a while :) Today the March Madness tournament starts! Who's in to basketball?? Um.....not me. I'm a football girl all the way! But I still wanted to redo my original basketball nails I did last year, when I first started getting into nail art. Those are at the bottom of this post, from September 2013. I remember not totally hating them, which I did of most of my early work. I'm at it again with textures. I know I sound like a broken record, but I just love how sparkly and versatile they are! This is Zoya Beatrix. I used a black striper to make the lines. After MUCH deliberation, I decided to make them all going the same way. That included redoing one nail that was going a different way :) direct sun shade blurry to show sparkles Here's a super short little video clip to show the sparklies! Here are my original basketball nails. Not te...

Image
Hey guys! I am so loving my  pixiedusts STILL! This green is Chita. This is ONE COAT yall! I probably could have done 2 on my first finger, maybe I applied it too thin. On my ring finger is Zoya Godiva, a neutral nude sparkly Pixiedust. I've also noticed something....anytime I make shamrocks I don't join up my leaves. Weird right? shade

Olympic Colorblock Nails with Zoya Pixiedust!

Image
Happy Olympics Opening Ceremony Day! My house is a big fan of the Olympics, and we love the pomp and circumstance of it all. Let's start with the base I used, from the new OPI Gwen Stefani line, Love.Angel.Music.Baby. I originally wasn't going to get any of the Gwens, (Helloooo Brazil) but I love the silver cousin to this one (This Gown Needs a Crown) so much and I use it a ton. It dries super fast! So I caved. I'm sure I will get lots of use out of it! I didn't do the best clean up job, because I was about to layer over it...... sorry! shade (overcast day) And here is my version of Olympic nails. I was going to do circles with straws but my straws were too big :( So I finally got  my hands on some striping tape and away I went. I still need a LOT of practice!! shade (coudy day) Colors used: Chyna (red), Sunshine (blue), Solange (yellow), Chita (green) The black is actually NOPI Gumdrops A-nise Treat, since I don't have the black pixiedust (Dah...

Favs of 2013: OPI Alcatraz Rocks and Keeping Suzi at Bay. (Ocean Nails)

Image
Hey guys! I've been back and forth about posting a "favorites" of last year, so here's what I landed on. I created a mani with my 2 absolute favs from last year (and of ALL TIME at the moment). In my head, this was going to look like sideways lines of sparkly texturey goodness. The plan was to use my fan brush for the first time, and draw horizontal "fan brush" lines with the texture. As I was doing it, it just was not looking like it was supposed to! It wound up looking more like it was sponged on. After totally hating it for several minutes, then apologizing to my bottle of Alcatraz and telling her I could NEVER hate her, I decided to take some pics anyway. And then I fell in love. shade direct sun To me, it looks like the ocean floor! I am a beach girl at heart and anything blue or ocean related goes straight to my core! *sigh* Here's what I did. Start with a royal blue base. OPI Keeping Suzi at Bay I used my fan brush, but y...

Pink deco striped nails plus tutorial!

Image
Hey guys! I have another tape tutorial for you. I would love to do these every week! I find it a super easy way to get cool geometric designs. I started off with OPI Koala Berry. This is such a beautiful color! Its from the Australia collection waaaayyyy back, I have made it my mission to try to collect them all! If  I was a Barbie I'm pretty sure this is what my hands would look like. OPI Koala Berry After applying 2 coats of color and topcoat, start cutting your tape strips. Can you see how I try to line up the design on the scissors before cutting? I'm pretty particular  about that, but it's not a required step! Here are the strips and the scissors I used. Here's a simple pictorial collage tutorial for you...it's the same method as last time. Just be sure your nails are SUPER dry! Here's the final result. I don't usually add topcoat to textures, but this time I did. It really changed the color of the Pixie Dust I think!

Fresh nails for the New Year with OPI Tickle my France-y and SilentStars Go By

Image
After all the crazy designs of the holiday season it's nice to have a fresh, clean, simple look! You can do this with any neutral color!  OPI Tickle My France-Y After a couple days, though, you can change it up (and make it last longer if you get chips!) by adding some sparkly accents! I used a mini Liquid Sand that came in a gift pack. This color is called Silent Stars Go By, and I thought it was just perfect with this!  For the chevrons I used zig-zag scissors to cut strips of scotch tape. Lay then down where you like on the nail, paint over, and remove quickly! Easy! I'm still really loving chevron and this is a really easy and not so flashy (read:work appropriate) way to quickly jazz up your nails. Bonus: textured polish wears like iron! Great for the tips of your nails! with added Silent Stars Go By Now we can all laugh at my giant hands trying to hold this tiny mini bottle! Ha! >Giant hands<
