Puzzle piece nails inspired by NailStorming!

Image
Hey guys! Today I have something a little different. I usually pride myself on being original and coming up with new designs, but the tag for today on IG is "nailspiration". Which sounds a little silly, but something told me exactly what to do....isn't that weird? Same thing happened with my Easter nails. I may or may not start doing something like this monthly...I just haven't decided yet.  The lovely Gianna of the wildy popular NailStorming account on IG did these a few weeks ago. She is totally awesome at being awesome and I love her for it! I knew recreating them was going to be really challenging and I wanted to be as close as possible! Puzzles have been on my "to-do" list for a while. They aren't as good as hers but I don't totally hate them so I'm filing that in the win column :) sun They matched my royal blue jeans I wore that day. yay for blue! sun Polishes used: base color: Sally Hanson Pacific Blue red: OPI Thrill...

Princess Week-Snow White Nails plus tutorial!

Image
Hey guys! It's Princess Week! The Disney Princess Half Marathon is this weekend at Disney World. I ran this race last year and it was sooooooo fun. I'm not this year but I  have had such a positive response to my Cinderella nails I did last year that matched my home-made (yep!) Cinderella running costume on Pinterest that I wanted to do a whole week of easy to do, princess insprired nails. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm no artist. So you won't be seeing any faces or elaborate detail on my nails. I try to take from the major points of the character and interpret them into an easy to do design! Let me know what you think! This week I'll be featuring Snow White, Belle, Ariel, and Cinderella. Cinderella is my fav, obviously, followed by Belle and Ariel. I'm a classics girl! Snow gets a ticket because she's and icon and the first Disney Princess :) If you guys like these and want me to do more leave a comment and maybe later in the yea...

BMW nails plus tutorial!

Image
Hey guys!  Here's a fun and easy tape tutorial for you! BMW nails! shade direct sun Start with 3 black nails and 1 white nail. After your white  nail has dried for SEVERAL hours, cut your tape pieces. I usually use scotch tape for straight lines, but I thought I'd try painter's tape again. It doesn't matter what the pieces look like, they just need to have a right corner on them . painter's tape strips Tape the white nail so that the top right and the bottom left are covered (see pictorial below) and paint over with the blue. Remove the tape right away! I did find that I didn't get as clean of a line as I wanted, so I took a tiny brush dipped in polish and made the edges a little straighter. Here's a quick little pictorial collage of the process!   And here's the lineup: From L: SH Black out, OPI Alpine Snow, OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui, Seche vite shade direct sun

Golden globes Nails 2014!

Image
Can I just say, it's so weird to type 2014! Here are some quick nails I did for this weekend's award show the Golden Globes. I love award shows, but more I love the red carpet specials to see what everyone's wearing! yay. I've had these Picure Polishes for weeks and only now had time to use them! How gorgeous is Monroe?? I experimented a little with glitter placement with this crazy awesome holographic NOPI I grabbed as soon as I knew it existed!  It's one of the few polishes I have that I paid full price for. Here's the lineup: Nicole by OPI Spark the Conversation, Picture Polish Monroe, Sally Hanson black, Seche vite.

When you wish upon a star...Mickey & Minnie Mouse nail art

Image
Hey guys! I have been wanting to do "Disney" nails for a while! With the WDW marathon happening this weekend, now was my chance! I'm not running in it but I wish I was  :(  I prefer symbolic references to characters over actual faces, you will see that a lot in my work! I also, after much deliberation, decided to add some small Mickey ears. Here are the polishes I used: from L: OPI Thrill of Brazil (my new favorite red! This will be my go to from now on! It is a one-coater for me!), China Glaze Angel Wings, Sally hanson white and black, Zoya Storm, and for the star I fished out one from the Revlon Celestial FX. It's good to have on hand! It has holographic stars, crescent moons and diamond shapes.    Method on this was pretty simple...polka dots and glitter! For the Mickey nail I painted the whole nail red and topped with Seche vite. After a few hours I went back and taped the bottom and painted over black. Add some dots and presto! For my...
