It's a Boy!......fish.

Image
Ha ha. I toyed with the idea of not putting "fish" in the title of this post, but I didn't want to cause too many heart attacks! We still don't know what the sex of #3 is yet, I haven't even had the u/s yet :) Blog, meet "Coconut" This morning before swim lessons I told #1 that if he could float on his back by himself today (or whenever he decided he could do it) that we would go and get him a fish. His very own to name and love. He was quite excited about it. We are in year 2 of swim lessons, we are just finishing up the second week. We did 8 weeks of swim lessons last year , and floating much less any swimming has been a long uphill battle with him. He was a little unsure the first few days of lessons this year, and I really wasn't sure where he would pick up after all the progress he made last year. He has come quite far in just 2 weeks! I think realizing he can touch the bottom in the shallow end and have his whole head above water has given him...

Hey Guess What??

MY KID SWAM TODAY! MY KID SWAM TODAY! :shouts from rooftops: A little peer pressure will go a long way with a 4 yr old, I guess! We were at our pool today with some new friends, and among them is another 4 year old boy. One who does NOT have the pool issues that mine does. So there he is, being quite the fishie, and there's #1, being not the fishie using his inflatable ring and other various non-life-saving devices. Not that I'm complaining about that, because one short month ago, he wouldn't go near the pool. So there I am, gabbing with the other moms, and all of the sudden I feel something tugging at my bathing suit top. And since Husband is at work, it can't be him. I look down, and there is my kid, face down in the water, flailing around his little arms and legs trying to pull himself up. I thought at first he fell in (off the steps he was playing on and I was standing next to) and had gotten over to me (in which case, yay for that!) And then I grab him and pull hi...

What did you eat this weekend??

Hungry yet??? This weekend I dusted off the old baking case, and got to work. Thanks to a new mommy friend of mine, who sends me pictures of things I should be making (ha ha!) I figured it was time to get cracking. And, I do have a new cupcake book, the sequel to "Hello, Cupcake!" called "What's New, Cupcake?" that I've had for like, 2 months, and not made anything out of. Seriously! So, instead of doing ALL the cupcakes in ONE theme, and with there being so many in the book that are "picnic-y" themed, I thought I'd just do a few of each and do a whole spread! I even found this checked tablecloth, which honestly I can't believe I didn't have already! These pies are made with M&M's , but I also saw somewhere else similar cupcakes that had Actual fruit in them, so I thought I'd try that too. I probably should have glazed the blueberries or something, but I was kind of pressed for time because it was so hot in my kitchen I was...

Weekend Update

So, I tried out running with my pepper spray. Here's what it looks like: it has a little Velcro strap that you wear around your hand. It even has a lady running on the front of it! **disclaimer:hand shown is not my hand. MY right hand has an Aggie Ring on it. BOO-YAH. ** At first glance, it did not seem like this would be the best way to carry it, so I tried it strapped on to my various things already attached to me (water bottle thing, ipod armband, watch, etc.) and after I practiced a few "quick draw" movements I realized, maybe they say to carry it like that for a reason. Because the clip CAN get stuck on the other strap thingy if you need to get it out, and that would not be very good. So, off I went, at thebuttcrackofdawn, all armed and ready. Yes, the part in my palm got a little sweaty, and I got a few weird looks, but all in all I would call it a success. OH! And of course I HAD to practice shooting it a little outside. And it's a good thing I did. My only ot...

Hope Floats...

But my child will not . We are finishing up Week 3 of swim lessons for #1. He is doing pretty well, considering the first week he just cried pretty much every day. He does well with putting his head underwater (a HUGE hurdle) and kicking his legs, but he is terrified of "falling" when attempting to float by himself. I know he will get it in time, he is just having trouble crossing this last mental bridge of knowing he can do it himself! I know he will love it when he gets the hang of it. His swim teacher is so patient with him but firm also and still dunks him under when he is whining about not wanting to do it, because she knows he will come up smiling!! He goes to swim class Mon-Thurs for 30 min each day. We just finished 3 weeks and have 5 more in front of us. I told the girl in charge of the lessons that we will need every minute of it! We are just going to keep on truckin' until he gets the hang of it. So, until he does, I'll leave yall with this: cupcakes I made...
