This is the cake I made for my son's 5th birthday, which happened over Christmas break while we were out of town. I knew I was going to be making it at my in-law's house, so I brought some of my baking "tools" along with me and just bought the groceries there. It was a surprise for him! He loved it. I'm fairly happy with the way it turned out, considering I didn't have much time to make it, I baked it and covered it New Year's Eve before we went out, and then finished it in the am. I got 5 hours of sleep, got up at 7:30, finished the cake by 9, then we left so I could run a last minute race (we went into a running store the day before so I could get a shirt, and I walked out signed up for a New Years Day race at 10 am. I'm crazy like that!). I ran the race (and had a record time despite the temp being 32 degrees and me wearing shorts!), came home and had 20 minutes to shower and get ready to leave for the party! Hectic!
Also: An update on my Tour of the Big XII project...I am going to be finishing up the logos in the coming weeks. Since I stopped doing them, we won out the season and didn't lose until the bowl game! So look for that coming up too!! I need to be sure to get them done before football starts again...
