Catch 22 Designs nail art

Image
Hey guys! Today I have a little nail art for a collaboration I was asked to be a part of for my friend Shannon of Catch 22 Designs! I met her at the TN nail girls meet up last year and she is awesome. She makes really cute keychains and jewelry out of nail polish! How awesome is that! The piece I'm holding in the pic is a bracelet I won at the lunch for coming the closest to guessing how many polishes she had based on a pic. The polish she used for the piece is Pipe Dream Polish "Carribean Dreaming" which I don't have (YET) but I do have Rhythm and Blues which matched well enough! Here's a link to her shop,  check it out! I did a watermarble accent on my middle nail also using Pipe Dream Polishes, All In and Happy Hour, over a white base of OPI Angel with a Leadfoot. I also added a little China Glaze Fairy dust inside the clover I drew with a dotting tool and Happy Hour. Why is posing with jewelry so hard??? Some people make it look just effortles...

Candy Corn Watermarble nails for Halloween

Image
Happy Halloween week! I don't have as many mani's as I wanted as of right now for Halloween, I don't know if I will have one every day this week or not! I'm not much of a Halloween girl past the cute kids/cute costumes/candy. I'm a Christmas girl! Come on Santa! Anyway, haha! This was one of the few on my list I have actually made a reality. I tried a few other ones and hated them :(  I'm super happy with the way it turned out! The black is Zoya Dovima, the black matte of the new matte polishes, which I reviewed here The watermarble is 3 colors: white: Zoya Purity orange: Nicole by OPI Fairy Fairy Quite Contrary (the ONLY true orange I have!) yellow: Zoya Darcy The pic below is the  matted watermarble look. I topped it first with Seche vite, then when it was dry I used the Zoya matte topcoat. I thought the matte more matched the chalky look of candy corn! Here is what it looked like with the glossy coat. here is a quick ...

AGGIE WEEK Day 5 featuring Picture Polish Bonkers and watermarbling!

Image
Hey guys! Boy. Today's mani almost didn't happen! I tried like 7-8 failed attempts at this last week. Several with this polish and then with several other maroons and whites. I was so sad it wasn't working! So I shelved it for a week. Then a couple days ago, I gave it one last try. I sloppily slopped on my white base coat and gave it another whirl (which is why the cuticle area looks not so great.) I gave it another go and it turned out! Yay! Glitter and confetti for all! This is Picture Polish Bonkers. Another one of my favorite brands and polishes. Ya'll have heard me go on about them before! When this polish came out earlier this year I just had to have it. HAD. It's completely gorgeous, 2 coats, the brush is shorter than OPI but the flat wide brush I so prefer. I wanted to feature this polish with watermarble sooo much I'm so glad it finally worked! Scroll to the bottom for the link to the video tutorial! sun shade CLICK HERE  for the vi...

Pipedream Polish watermarble plus video!

Image
Hey guys! Here is my first all-nail watermarble with the Pipe Dream neons. Every one is going crazy for these polishes and so am I! haha! For this look I used 3: All In (blue), Happy Hour (teal, bottle pictured) and VIP Pass (purple) I got a huge air bubble that led to a white spot on my middle finger, which I filled in with a dot but I don't think it looked any better or worse :/ watermarble! Indirect sunlight I just love them so much ;) Since I have the new phone I've been dabbling a little in video tutorials. Dabbling only! They take a lot of extra time so I'm not sure how many I'll be able to do but they sure are fun! I could watch watermarble videos all day! This is super fast sped up because Instagram only allows 15 seconds of video. Most of my videos will be like this at first, I surely don't have time to make 2 versions!

These polishes have sparkles for days! Can't wait to share the swatches with yall! sun One must matte the fall sparklies, right? Which one do yall like better? clouds These are the Ignite half if the Fall Zoya's and are available for preorder on Zoya.com NOW! Ignite for Fall 2014

Design Seeds inspired Watermarble Nails (Tropical Bird colors)

Image
Hey guys! So ........... I totally had a different post scheduled for today....and yesterday.... but this weekend I was scrollin along through Instagram and I saw my friend Kristin (@ermagerdpolish) show where she got her color palate inspiration for her latest watermarble (which was amazzzzzing) and it let me to discovering Design-Seeds.com! Apparently it's been around for a while but I've never seen it! It's basically a website that draws from various colorful things and matches up 6 or so colors with it and gives you a palate to work with in designing a room or whatever.....or NAILS! I made the mistake of clicking the #designseeds tag....and all of the sudden I have 70 billion screen shots of color palates saved on my phone. And the majority of them are tropical/beachy/teal/turquoise heavy....I should really branch out. Or not. ANYHOO. This is my first mani done with this method! Trust me you will be seeing a lot of this (and not just with watermarble) because I luuu...

Summer melon Watermarble nails with Picture Polish Honeydew and Totes

Image
Hey guys! Happy Friday! This is the second week of my vow to do watermarbling once a week so I can get better at it. Doing pretty good so far! This time is used 2 of my Picture Polishes. As soon as I got Totes I knew I wanted to do something with it along with Honeydew, because they remind me so much of melons! This came out ok, I don't love and yall don't have to either :/ Totes seems a lot more opaque than Honeydew, so the green kind of gets washed out. It almost creates a bit of an ombre effect with the white base, I guess that's cool? I don't know how some ladies hold 2 bottles at a time and look graceful! I can not! shade sun I thought this would look cool with a matte topcoat, I think if the green was more opaque it would. Anyhow, this Picture Polish matte topcoat is one of the first PP's I got, how awesome is the name? Genius, and it makes me giggle. matte

Watermelon watermarble nails

Image
Happy Friday! Woo hoo for holiday weekend. Today I have another so-so attempt at watermarbling. I don't know why I'm having so much trouble with it lately! I'm going to try to do it every week on Fridays to try to get better. I know it takes a lot of practice! At least this time I didn't have any air bubbles, so that's improvement. This design is by Colette of My Simple Little Pleasures. She has a million You Tube tutorials on watermarbling, seriously, check her out! But....wait until you have some time because you will get sucked in! I discovered her channel searching for tutorials and found this one first. It's supposed to look like Watermelon! I don't know why my pink kept disappearing :( and my nails are super short right now so that's a challenge also! But I know I can master this look and technique on short nails so I'm  going to keep practicing! Search My Simple Little Pleasures or Watermelon Watermarble on You Tube if you want to see the lo...

Boston watermarble

Image
Hey guys.  Today is the one year anniversary of the bombing that happened at the Boston Marathon. As a runner it REALLY hit home for me, and still does. I wanted to do something to celebrate Boston and the Marathon. This is a blue and yellow linear watermarble. Not my best work, I still always somehow manage to smudge my first finger! ugh. Still, they turned out ok! I used Sally Hanson Mellow Yellow and Pacific Blue. sun shade

St. Patrick's Day nails (clover watermarble)

Image
Hi guys! Ok. Guys. This is THE HARDEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE that's nail related. I'm not even kidding! I'm not terrible at watermarbling BUT doing this clover-thingy was really getting me! I took 3 days, 9 cups, and 5 dips to get this, one that I only about 90% like. I'm calling at a win! Either my colors ran together, my clover disappeared when I tried to bring it together, I got numerous air and water bubbles, you name it. Basically every problem you could ever have watermarbling (that I don't usually have) I ran in to! I was determined to get on that was a least usable! Aside from that, how gorgeous is China Glaze Four Leaf Clover??? This was on my wish list forever and I found it at a random grocery store for super cheap. Yay! This is my first time using it! The gold is CG Angel Wings. It dries a little matte, so I added topcoat to all nails. natural light, overcast day Then I added matte topcoat to it, because I NEED to get as much mileage out...

OPI Brazil 2014--My picks, Comparisons, and Art! (Part 1: The Brights)

Image
Hey guys! Happy Hump Day! Who else beside me is is SOOOO excited for these Brazils??? I've been waiting FOREVER for these to come out and they are finally here! I'm breaking up my posts on this collection into 3 parts: The Brights, The Nudes, and the Sands. Each one will have some nail art also using those colors! I don't have the entire collection..... I purchased these myself so I had to think long and hard about which ones I really wanted. I decided to skip out on the red, the coral-y red, the darker orange, and the purple-y shimmer. (like how technical I am?) The ones I chose are truly unique in my collection, plus I love them so much. Even more now that I've worn them!  They are all cremes....and apply like a DREAM. What we've come to know and expect from OPI. I also wanted to include some quick comparisons in these posts. I don't have a ginormous amount of polish, but I do sorta have a lot of OPI, so I started there. I just love seeing and reading comp...

Pastel water marble nails!

Image
Happy Tuesday! Today's tag for #NailArtFeb is "pastels" so this is what I came up with. My water marble skillz are really lacking, so I am going to be upping my practice on it. Please excuse the lack of sun and dry hands.....like I said before..... BOO WINTER GO AWAY. Outdoor lighting, overcast day Colors used: Nicole by OPI How Fairy Nice Of You (pink), Am I Making Myself Claire? (purpley-taupe), Alex by the Books (mint). I tried to use my NOPI pastel-ish blue Stand by you Manny but It kept diffusing into the other colors and SERIOUSLY pissin' me off so after 2 tries I gave up on it. The glitter is OPI More than a Glimmer from the 2013 Pink Ribbon Collection.
