Purple ombre Zebra stripes for Marcella's Birthday!

Image
Hey guys! Today I have some zebra stripes and another video! I am on a roll, haha! Today is my friend Marcella's birthday, my sista from anotha beach ;) and  one of my fellow "Glitter Gals". We have been having so much fun doing these birthday collab manis lately! It's been a busy week because hers and Aly's birthdays are only few days apart! Plus with this week being Valentine's week and me trying to get some looks done for that, AND videos, and life being hectic it's been crazy! Marcella loves purple and animal  prints so we decided to all chose a different animal to do. I called Zebra because it's the only one I can do ;)

Valentines Day nails with nude and RED!

Image
Hey guys! It's good to be back! If you follow me on Instagram you know about my drama this weekend. I won't go into it here but I might blog about it this week! (Phone drama, yall know.) Anyway, this is a look I came up with last week! It's hard to come up with new looks for Valentine's Day, even I just want to stick with hearts ;) And, I have lots of vinyls but the ones I have trouble using the most are the lightning bolt ones, because I feel like they can only really be used one way. So I forced myself to try to think out side of the box! I don't know, what do yall think? I started with a nude base (this polish may or may not be blogged, that's all I'll say about that, wink face) and used Lightning bolt vinyls from Glam my Mani (sent to me, I've used them many times before!) and my fine red Zoya PixieDust in Chyna. Go super slow, if Chyna gets on your cuticles she will not come off! For my ring finger I used a heart vinyl stencil, also fro...

Valentine's Day nails! Already? Yes! Plus OPI Mod About You

Image
Hey guys! Today I have another "spruced up" look that turned into Valentinesy nails! The base color is OPI Mod About You, which I have pics of at the end of this post. I wore it with a matte topcoat, which I really loved!! After I wore it for a couple days I wanted to add something before I took I off. I don't love the single chevron look, so I had make myself use them! I'm happy with the way it turned out! Click Read More to see more pics and 2 video tutorials!

AGGIE WEEK Day 4, featuring OPI Scores a Goal! and chevrons with bonus tutorial!

Image
Hey guys! Today's maroon is OPI Scores  a Goal! from this past spring's Brazil Collection (which I'm still madly in love with. The whole thing was just perfection. This polish is a bit darker, kind of a raisiny maroon with out being too vampy. The formula sets is apart because like all the other polishes in that collection, is just amazing. Smooth, buttery, 2 effortless coats. ahhhhhhh indirect sun I chose one of my favorite looks, chevron, for the accent here! As with all these looks this week, you could easily do these on all your nails, but I wanted to showcase the maroon polishes so I only did one! And guess what, I have a bonus tutorial for you! There are lots of ways to achieve the chevron look. The most simple is free handing with a thin or striper brush, but ummmmm I'm pretty terrible at that so I don't do it. Ever. When I starting doing chevrons, this is how I did them-I made them my self! There's lots of other options out there, including ...

Picture Polish Blog/Insta Fest 2014 Featuring NAIL VINYLS!

Image
Hey guys! Boy have I been waiting for this day! It has been soooooo hard to keep this to myself for 4 months!  I have been chosen to participate in Picture Polish's Blogfest this year! With half my in-laws living in Australia and my husband being Australian I was drawn to this brand as soon as I dove into the nail world and have been nothing but amazed with their product! I am so lucky to be chosen :) They sent me 3 polishes to review and create a tutorial for using their newest product, Nail Vinyls! These are pre-cut vinyls that make it easy to create chevrons and many other designs on your nails! (These are not made by Picture Polish rather they are just going to be carrying them!) Picture Polish is now going to be carrying an exclusive 4-pack including chevrons, mini chevrons, straight, and right angles along with all their polishes. All the participants this year were sent varying sets of nail vinyls to show you how you can use them with Picture Polish to create fun and ea...

Princess Week-Cinderella Inspired Nails plus tutorial!

Image
Hey guys!!! It's Cinderella's turn! You can see my nails I did last year when I ran the Princess Half   here .  This year I wanted to do something different. To me Cinderella is very ethereal, fluffy, sparkly, and dainty. I knew I wanted to do a variation on a french manicure for her, but I was doubtful because I am in the process of growing out a broken corner on my middle finger. I waited a week, filed them down as short as I could, and hoped for the best. Here is proof, that, even with super nubs you can rock a french!   I took pics as I did this for a tutorial, but forgot to take a pic of the last step, then decided it was unnecessary because I can just talk you through it :) shade Apply 2 coats of a glittery base coat. I chose China Glaze Glistening snow. I did not use anything under it. You can use any sort of glittery base for it, Fairy Dust would work also, even with out a base coat because we are going for a delicate look here. When it's dry, ...

Princess Week-Snow White Nails plus tutorial!

Image
Hey guys! It's Princess Week! The Disney Princess Half Marathon is this weekend at Disney World. I ran this race last year and it was sooooooo fun. I'm not this year but I  have had such a positive response to my Cinderella nails I did last year that matched my home-made (yep!) Cinderella running costume on Pinterest that I wanted to do a whole week of easy to do, princess insprired nails. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm no artist. So you won't be seeing any faces or elaborate detail on my nails. I try to take from the major points of the character and interpret them into an easy to do design! Let me know what you think! This week I'll be featuring Snow White, Belle, Ariel, and Cinderella. Cinderella is my fav, obviously, followed by Belle and Ariel. I'm a classics girl! Snow gets a ticket because she's and icon and the first Disney Princess :) If you guys like these and want me to do more leave a comment and maybe later in the yea...

Valentine's Day nails-pink hearts (tutorial)

Image
Happy Tutorial Saturday! Here's my weekly tutorial. It's an easy one with glitter placement! shade direct sun I started with solid red nails using OPI Thrill of Brazil. I fished out the heart glitter out of NOPI Love your Life with a long handled dotting tool (or you could use a toothpick!) Place them as you like on your nail. I added single hearts to the other nails, then used the glittery base of the polish as my topcoat! tutorial

Seattle Seahawks inspired nails (retro dots)

Image
Hi! Where are the Seahawks Fans out there? My team didn't make it into the superbowl booooooooooo...... Anyhoo...I wanted to do designs inpired by the two teams this year, and since I've said before I'm no artist you aren't going to get any logos from me. Here are some cool retro dots in the Seattle Seahawks colors, and they also kind of match their pants! shade direct sun Here's a quick tutorial: the fluorescent green I used dried immediately matte....so after your dots are dried you definitely need a shinytopcoat to make them look glossy! tutorial from L; SP Loopy Lime, CG First Mate, Seche Vite

Denver Broncos Inspired Nails (chevrons)

Image
More football nails today! These are my "Denver Broncos" nails, like I said in the past, I am unable to free hand logos and such so I like to create graphic representations of things! I really love how these came out, exactly as I had on paper. Besides the fact that they involve orange....ewwwwww. shade direct sun (yay) Here's how I did them. For the chevron nails, I started with solid orange.  Once it was really dry (several hours) I used scotch tape strips cut with my pinking shears. I am finding that when using creme-on-creme-tape designs, scotch tape works best. I just don't get as clean of lines with painters tape. For the orange-tipped blue nails, I painted a narrow strip of white at the tips, then orange. If you just put the orange straight on the blue, it gets swallowed. tutorial The colors I used are NOPI Fairy Fairy Quite Contrary and OPI I saw, You saw, We saw, Warsaw.
