Black and red "Anti-Valentine's Day" nails

Image
Hey guys! I have something a little different today, for me any way! Last week I had an idea for "anti" Valentines day nails using a mixture of reds and blacks. This is one of the few times something came out exactly as I planned! Between the time I did these and now I've seen several other similar idea'd manis around so I guess I'm not the only one with this idea, haha! I used 4 OPI polishes for this, 3 of which were untried! What!!! This post marks 13 untried polishes I've used this week. I'm super proud of that! black: Black Onyx. The most perfect black in the history of the world. Used many times and will continue to. The end. red shimmery crème: Innie Minnie Mighty Bow. This one is really pretty, I'm not really a red girl but this one is really pretty! I think I have most of both years of Minnie Mouse polishes, maybe I should do a swatch post on them? I've used most of them lots. Except this one, haha. But it's gorgeous! red gl...

Simple Deborah lippman

Hey guys :) Here's some simple nails for #simple for #nailartFeb on IG. I love these challenges because they give you prompts on on what to do and I love seeing everyone's interpretations of the ideas! This is one of my 2 Deborah Lippmann's. It's called Baby Love. I only own it because I picked it up on a super clearance sale. It's beautiful but SUPER shear. This is 2 coats, over a ridge-filling basecoat. (note: because we had a rare sunny day in the winter you guys get double the pics. yay!) Please excuse my super nubs. ugh. shade sun I thought, I should add some glitter over this, no? OPI Pirouette My Whistle, one coat. shade sun Then I thought, I should layer another coat of Baby Love over that, no? shade sun

OPI Thrill of Brazil-Simple Elegant Valentine's Day Nails

Image
Happy Valentine's Day Guys! This is something I've been wanting to do for a while-mixing matte and glossy on a single color base. I went super simple with my favorite red, OPI Thrill of Brazil. This is NOT from the Brazil collection that just came out...it's from a South America Collection years ago that came in a gift set. If you ever come across it you better snag it! It is the perfect red, and a one-coater for me. AND it doesn't stain. I'm not really a red girl, but when I need red, this is the one I grab more often than not! I am seriously loving this look and will do it again. Soon. OPI Thrill of Brazil with glossy tips

Valentine's Nails with Texture! (Zoya Pixiedust)

Image
Hey guys! Valentine's Week Continues with texture! It's about time, right?? I LOVE sparkly textured polishes. It took me the longest time to get on the bandwagon but now that I'm on I'm making it my mission to sell the rest of the planet on them. Of course, this design can easily be done with creme polishes also. Here is something simple and classic. For the hearts, just take a dotting tool or tooth pick and make 2 dots next to each other, then drag the polish down into a point. Takes a tiny bit of practice but super easy once you master it! Pastel water marble nails!

Image
Happy Tuesday! Today's tag for #NailArtFeb is "pastels" so this is what I came up with. My water marble skillz are really lacking, so I am going to be upping my practice on it. Please excuse the lack of sun and dry hands.....like I said before..... BOO WINTER GO AWAY. Outdoor lighting, overcast day Colors used: Nicole by OPI How Fairy Nice Of You (pink), Am I Making Myself Claire? (purpley-taupe), Alex by the Books (mint). I tried to use my NOPI pastel-ish blue Stand by you Manny but It kept diffusing into the other colors and SERIOUSLY pissin' me off so after 2 tries I gave up on it. The glitter is OPI More than a Glimmer from the 2013 Pink Ribbon Collection.

Love owls for Valentine's Day!

Image
Hey Guys! I have a whole week of Valentine's Nails lined up for you, and hopefully something for every taste and ability! First up is a re-make. I did these owls last year, when I was just starting off in the world of Nail Art. As usual, I see other concepts online, and I try very hard to come up with a different spin and create something truly original. It's hard when there are so many creative designs out there on the internets! These were my most pinned (on Pinterest) nails from last year, and I have been dying to re do them! I Tried to use as many of the same colors as possible! These are also my entry for "xoxo" theme on the #NailArtFeb tag on Instagram. The colors used are all China Glaze: For Audrey (blue), With Love (red), Naked (pink)..... giggle. *I snuck in my orange Zoya Pixiedust for the beaks Love Owls. Overcast outdoor lighting Here's last year. Yikes! They are cute BUT.... wow I have come a long way! And still need more practice! ...

Valentine's Day nails-pink hearts (tutorial)

Image
Happy Tutorial Saturday! Here's my weekly tutorial. It's an easy one with glitter placement! shade direct sun I started with solid red nails using OPI Thrill of Brazil. I fished out the heart glitter out of NOPI Love your Life with a long handled dotting tool (or you could use a toothpick!) Place them as you like on your nail. I added single hearts to the other nails, then used the glittery base of the polish as my topcoat! tutorial
