Bliss Polish LE Starbucks Swap polish!

Image
Hey guys! Today I have my first nail art (well, on one nail anyway) since Valentines Day! I can't believe it. Well, actually, I can. Moving and unpacking and being still in the middle of the school year has been insane! But I'm finally at the point where I've done enough unpacking where I feel like I can devote a little time to my nails again. Hooray! Bliss is a brand that is still a little new to me, I only have one before this and its from the January "Pipe Down this Love is Bliss" box  (which I never got around to doing a post on but I will soon AND I picked up the April box too!) Yvette of Bliss Polish has been a woman on a mission to collect all of the Starbucks "You Are Here" mugs (yall saw the one I have in this post about my new coffee routine. ) She has an amazing collection so far! She reached out that she still needed a few and Nashville was on the list because the first person to offer it didn't pan out. In return she is offering a mu...

Picture Polish Paris and a video tutorial for gold chevrons!

Image
Hey guys! Today I have a swatch which turned into a mani I have been wearing for like 6-7 days! I have just been so busy with other stuff around the house that my nail list is growing and growing and growing..... I bought Paris from Picture Polish for the bottle. I mean, look at it! LOOK! They recently released this and another called "Moscow" that have these city scapes on them. How amazing it it! The color of Paris is more in the coral-pink family, which I don't usually go for. But I had to give it a shot! When I was taking pictures all my camera saw was RED and this is definitely not a red polish, so I had to turn down the red level in the pics a little. I try really hard not to edit my pics too much (or at all) but sometimes, I'm finding, it's necessary. As a result my skin looks a little gray but that's ok ;) After a couple days, as always, I feel the need to add. Paris has a gold holo micro shimmer running through it so Zoya Tomoko was a natura...

Aqua and coral birthday nails for Danele! (And my blog anniversary!)

Image
Hey guys! Today is my 1 year blogrelaunchiversary!! Basically that just means that one year ago after being in blog limbo for a year (this was a cooking/crafting/running/general mish mash blog years ago) I decided to relaunch and feature nails, swatches, tutorials and art! I hoped I would be where I am now but didn't think it would happen as quickly as it did! Thanks to everyone who has left encouraging comments and supported me along the way! I can't wait to see what this year has in store! Coincidentally one of the amazing girls I've gotten to know through all this as a birthday today! So our little group decided to do a little tribute. Aqua and coral are some of her favorite colors :)  More after the break!

AGGIE WEEK Day 4, featuring OPI Scores a Goal! and chevrons with bonus tutorial!

Image
Hey guys! Today's maroon is OPI Scores  a Goal! from this past spring's Brazil Collection (which I'm still madly in love with. The whole thing was just perfection. This polish is a bit darker, kind of a raisiny maroon with out being too vampy. The formula sets is apart because like all the other polishes in that collection, is just amazing. Smooth, buttery, 2 effortless coats. ahhhhhhh indirect sun I chose one of my favorite looks, chevron, for the accent here! As with all these looks this week, you could easily do these on all your nails, but I wanted to showcase the maroon polishes so I only did one! And guess what, I have a bonus tutorial for you! There are lots of ways to achieve the chevron look. The most simple is free handing with a thin or striper brush, but ummmmm I'm pretty terrible at that so I don't do it. Ever. When I starting doing chevrons, this is how I did them-I made them my self! There's lots of other options out there, including ...

Fresh nails for the New Year with OPI Tickle my France-y and SilentStars Go By

Image
After all the crazy designs of the holiday season it's nice to have a fresh, clean, simple look! You can do this with any neutral color!  OPI Tickle My France-Y After a couple days, though, you can change it up (and make it last longer if you get chips!) by adding some sparkly accents! I used a mini Liquid Sand that came in a gift pack. This color is called Silent Stars Go By, and I thought it was just perfect with this!  For the chevrons I used zig-zag scissors to cut strips of scotch tape. Lay then down where you like on the nail, paint over, and remove quickly! Easy! I'm still really loving chevron and this is a really easy and not so flashy (read:work appropriate) way to quickly jazz up your nails. Bonus: textured polish wears like iron! Great for the tips of your nails! with added Silent Stars Go By Now we can all laugh at my giant hands trying to hold this tiny mini bottle! Ha! >Giant hands<

New Year's Eve 2013

Image
Here is my NYE mani for 2013! I hoped to do more than one design, but we had family visiting so I had to combine all my ideas into one! I am still loving chevron...is it still in style? I hope so! I used my beloved OPI I Snow You Love Me on my ring finger to represent the ball dropping. GAH I love that glitter so much!!!   These are all the polishes I used! Crazy, right? Crazy SPARKLEY! One of the most fun parts of planning a design is picking and choosing which to use! It is so cold and dry here....it's an uphill battle! My hands are so dry and I'm moisturizing like my life friggen depends on it. Come on Summer! Anyhoo, here's the matte version of my NYE mani. Sorry for the cutes.
