China Glaze Apocalypse of Colour Collection for Halloween 2014 Swatches and Review

Hey Guys! Happy Friday and one week till Halloween! Who out there loves Halloween and who can't wait until Christmas???? (-------->This girl!) Here are the things I like about Halloween: Candy Corn, cute kids in cute costumes, carving pumpkins, candy, candy. Here are things I don't like about Halloween: zombies, gore, all things gross! haha! But I can handle gross things in nail polish form!! How excited am I to bring you the China Glaze Apocalypse of Colour Collection, their Halloween collection for 2014, provided by China Glaze! The collection is "zombie" themed....not my fav...but I'm gonna make it my mission to find other ways to use these in the very near future so stay tuned! Click Read More after the collage to see the swatches!

China Glaze Apocalypse of Colour 2014

First up is "But of Corpse" which is a Frankenstein-green with tiny black glitters (very similar to the "cookies and cream" type polishes we've seen in the past). This is 2 coats, and it dries matte! You do have to be careful going over the same spot twice because it will drag a little. BUT matte dries super fast so yay for that, always!

This was the first one I swatched and I added topcoat to it to see how it would look glossy but a) it didn't look much different and b) I could not get a decent pic of it in the setting sun so I gave up!

This one is called "I Love Your Guts" and is a cranberry (I'm choosing non-gory terms unlike "blood red" or what have you), and it the red sister of the green one with the same black micro glitter. It also dries matte, and this is 2 coats! I will be finding a creative way to use this in the very near future for Christmas and Valentine's Day :) These 2 are really interesting mixes and definitely different than anything I have in my collection!

Next is "Don't Let the Dead Bite" , which is supposed to look like blood spatter? I definitely don't want to think about that! This is really interesting one, I'm just kind of getting into this sort of crème-glitter so I will be finding other ways to use this also :) This is 2 coats, but I might wear 3 in the future.

"Getting to Gnaw You" is a black base with orangey coppery super fine glitter. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this one is my favorite of the collection! I know! Shocked I am! It just feels like....Thanksgivingy. I like it. 2 coats.

Next is "Rest in Pieces" a glitter topper. It has orange, black and copper hexes of different sizes and copper bars. I'm not a huge fan of bar glitter but this one works. I decided to test it over green, this is China Glaze Starboard. This is a topper, I don't imagine you would ever be able to wear it on it's own.

Lastly is the re-promote of Ghoulish Glow that China Glaze included every year in their Halloween collection. I actually already had this, I got it last year, but I never got around to using it! So I had some fun with it!

This is a topcoat also, it's not completely clear but almost. I used it over white. In this first pic in late in the day indirect sun, you can see the greenish tint it puts over whatever your wearing. It's not as obvious in real life as in this pic.

This is a pic under my daylight lamp. The white I used was Funky Fingers Gesso. I would say how it looks in real life is somewhere in between these 2 pics, haha!

Ok, so I had fun experimenting with this Glow polish!

First is a pic just straight up in the dark. One coat over the white.

Then I went and held my nails under my lamp for 10 seconds.

Then 30 seconds. Wow, right!

Then I added a second coat of Ghoulish Glow and a topcoat of Seche Vite, and then held it under the lamp for 30 seconds. This gave it the best glow! I'm not sure if it was the second coat or the topcoat, I kind of think it was the topcoat. It does fade though within about 10 seconds to be like the first pic I showed.

So this was fun! I will have some Halloween nail art with these next week! Thank you so much China Glaze for sending me these :) This collection is available now at Sally, Ulta, and everywhere else China Glaze is sold!
